WÖHR Autoparksysteme implements pioneering parking concept in the historically protected Turley district of Mannheim

With innovative technology and smart use of space, WÖHR is contributing to the mobility transition in Turley Mannheim

With the Turley Mannheim project, WÖHR Autoparksysteme is setting new standards for urban mobility and intelligent parking space design. A modern urban quarter with apartments, offices and commercial space is being built on the former barracks site – a place that combines living, working and leisure. The challenge: limited space, high parking space requirements and the demand for a sustainable mobility concept. The solution: a semi-automated parking system from WÖHR that impresses with its compact design, flexible configuration and future-oriented technology.

Parking reimagined – for a neighbourhood with vision

The parking system at the Turley site in Mannheim is more than just a technical solution – it contributes to the quality of urban life. The intelligent combination of efficiency, design and comfort has resulted in a parking concept that meets the requirements of modern urban development. The parking spaces are arranged in such a way as to maximise space utilisation. Multi-row configurations make it possible to accommodate significantly more vehicles in the same footprint. This not only saves valuable space, but also reduces construction costs and conserves resources.

Eleven WÖHR Combilift 542 systems were installed in the public neighbourhood car park ‘Turley Parking’ beneath construction site IV. They create 137 parking spaces – in addition to the 78 conventional parking spaces in the underground car park. This consolidates parking space in a very small area without compromising the architectural quality of the neighbourhood. The Combilift systems enable almost twice the number of parking spaces to be accommodated in the same area and are therefore a prime example of efficient parking space design in inner-city neighbourhoods.

Comfort and future-proofing: user-friendliness and electric mobility

Special attention has been paid to user-friendliness: the platforms are flat and offer comfortable entry and exit. Control is intuitive via an RFID system that offers maximum security and ease of use. This makes parking not only convenient, but also future-proof.
Architectural integration also plays a central role. The parking system blends harmoniously into the design of the neighbourhood and impresses with its modern, homogeneous appearance. The compact design and arrangement of the parking systems saves a lot of space in the underground car park. The space saved could be used for other architectural purposes.

Minimal gaps between the platforms create an elegant look that meets the highest design standards. This makes parking an integral part of the urban environment – functional, aesthetic and sustainable.

Holistic parking concept for the Turley Quarter in Mannheim

The advantages are obvious: less traffic above ground, more space for green areas and meeting zones. The technical effort takes a back seat, while the effect on the urban space remains decisive. For residents, this means convenient parking with intuitive operation and a high level of security – an important step towards sustainable urban development.

The Turley site shows how innovative parking technology and well-thought-out architecture can work together. Historic buildings, modern new constructions and intelligent mobility solutions come together to form a neighbourhood that sets standards for urban density, quality of life and sustainable infrastructure. With the use of the WÖHR Combilift 542, WÖHR once again demonstrates its expertise in translating complex requirements into tailor-made solutions – efficiently, conveniently and sustainably.
